On Monday, Facebook officials said it has removed the 687 pages related to the Congress’s IT cell, which are operated by some individuals as fake accounts. Official also said these accounts has not been removed on the basis on content or fake news, but for “inauthentic behaviour” and for pushing spam.
For this act of Facebook Congress reverted on Twitter,”This is to clarify no official pages run by INC have been taken down. Additionally, all pages run by our verified volunteers are also unaffected. In the mean time, we are awaiting a response from Facebook to provide us a list of all pages/accounts that they have taken down.”
Apart from that Facebook has also removed the 103 pages, accounts and groups from its platform that are originated in Pakistan. Similar activity has done for Instagram.
Facebook Head of Cybersecurity Policy Nathaniel Gleicher told reporters that Facebook has removed 687 Facebook Pages and accounts — the majority of which had already been detected and suspended by its automated systems — that engaged in “coordinated inauthentic behaviour” in India and were linked to individuals associated with an IT cell of the Indian National Congress (INC).
He also report that these accounts has been removed for their inauthentic behavior as the users are trying to misled who the behind the page.
