Chandigarh – On Thursday, Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has order girdawari after getting the report of wheat crop flattened by the rain in various part of state. According to the official report Captain Amarinder has releases order to ascertain the damage happened to the crop of wheat, so that compensation could be awarded soon.
Captain Amarinder Singh has order to concern officers to start the process of ‘girdawari’. In Sangrur, heavy rain and hailstorm have damaged the harvested wheat and likely to affect the standing wheat too. Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori has ordered assessment of damage and sought reports from across the district.
BKU Ugrahan general secretary of dist Sangrur Darbara Singh Chajla said, “heavy rain and hailstorm in some area’s of Punjab has damaged the crop of debt ridden farmers and it can lead to more worries to farmers in upcoming days”.
